Position Overview:

The City of Kitchener is hiring summer students to prepare, maintain and ensure our Sportsfields are ready for use.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Marks lines on ball diamonds and other sports fields using line marking equipment (chalk or paint). 
  • Grooms ball diamond infields; back drags infields using small tractor. 
  • Provides evening and weekend support; locks buildings, opens/closes restrooms.
  • Collects and removes debris at various locations around the city, empty garbage receptacles. 
  • Operates grass cutting equipment (push mower, small tractor with attachment), leaf blower, and gas-powered line trimmer. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

NOTE:

Initial selection for available positions will be for applications received prior to February 21, 2025. Applications received after this date will be kept in an application pool in case of future opportunities.    

 

Requirements:

  • Valid MTO G2” class driver's license in good standing and must be able to provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates holding a valid MTO “G class license.
  • Minimum educational equivalent to partial secondary school education. 
  • Up to 1 month of related experience. 
  • Ability to work in a team environment and follow directions as required.
  • Ability to perform physical labour in an outdoor environment with varying conditions 
  • Strong customer service skills with a willingness to help others
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
